💆🏻♀️💇🏼♀️ In Ayurveda, hair health is an important indicator of overall wellbeing.
🦴 Hair is considered an Upadhatu of the Asthi Dhatu (bones), meaning the condition of your hair can reflect the health of your bones and cartilage. For this reason, an Ayurvedic practitioner will always observe the hair as part of a full Prakriti (constitutional) assessment.
When assessing hair, many factors are considered, including colour, texture, weight, oiliness, dryness, strand thickness, and the presence of dandruff. Below are some general hair characteristics associated with each dosha:
🌬️ Vata Hair
Often dry, frizzy, and dull in colour, with thin strands and a flaky scalp. Split ends are common. When balanced, Vata hair can grow quite quickly and tends to be naturally curly.
🔥 Pitta Hair
May be prone to early greying or hair loss. Typically straighter in texture, sometimes with a reddish tinge. Can also lean towards oiliness.
💦 Kapha Hair
Usually thick, heavy, and oily, with a naturally shiny appearance. Often considered the most robust and enviable hair type of the three doshas.
How do these qualities show up in your own hair?
Brahmi is great for encouraging relaxation, hence has highly rejuvenation qualities and is great for promoting hair growth.
This oil is traditionally used for head and feet massage.
For the most fluffy and soft hair, you may also want to use our home-made herbal hair pack: a combination of the herbs such as Shikakai, Reetha, Amalaki and Brahmi powder are used.
Come visit the shop, we will assist you with our best hair products!
