    Spring Detoxification and Panchakarma

Have you considered starting a Spring detox program? Are you experiencing any of the following: fatigue, heaviness, a lack of enthusiasm, constipation, a thick coating on the tongue ?, headaches, poor concentration, joint and muscle pain or skin problems? All of these symptoms can be signs of an accumulation of Ama, digestive toxins in the body.

Ama is considered to be the root cause of most disease. Spring is a great time to undergo seasonal Panchakarma treatment. Once the Ama is eliminated you will start to experience a feeling of lightness, enthusiasm and the senses become more alert and active.

As the Kapha season, the moist and heavy qualities of the spring season should be balanced by bringing heat into our foods. Kitchari and mung bean soup as well as other light and easy to digest foods are suggested. Avoid caffeine and alcohol, ice cream ? , yoghurt and curds.

Bringing heat into our bodies through physical exercise is also important. Exercise will encourage circulation and create a feeling of lightness to the body. Also, dry body brushing can help to invigorate the lymphatic system and decrease fluid retention.

There are a number of Ayurvedic herbs and formulations to support your spring cleansing procedures - a few of which include Triphala, Trikatu, Tulsi, Ginger, Cumin, Black Pepper, and more.

Sipping on hot water with fresh ginger, black pepper, cumin and fennel seeds is suggested. Tulsi can help remove excess Kapha dosha from the upper respiratory tract. It also helps to improve circulation and works in weight management.
