    Colours and the Doshas

Colours have the ability to impact our moods and emotions - I am sure most of us will testify to this. I love all the beautiful colours when travelling in India, especially the ocean of colourful Sari

Colour is called varna in Sanskrit.

When looking at the impact of colours from an Ayurvedic perspective, we can say that certain colours have the ability to bring balance to an individual

Depending on our constitution and our state of imbalance, we can use colours to invoke desired states of being.

Colours Recommended to balance Vata Dosha

    - Earthy colours help increase feelings of stability and of being grounded. Warming colors are also beneficial. Yellow , gold, white, indigo, deep purple.

Colours Recommended to balance Pitta Dosha

    - Cooling colors to calm the tendencies towards excess heat. Blue, green, white, and soft pastel colours. Avoid extremely bright and dark colours.

Colours Recommended to balance Kapha Dosha

    - Stimulating and bright colours help balance the tendencies towards lethargy. Red, orange and yellow.

Which colours make you feel more balanced? And which feel more aggravating?

More information about how to balance the Doshas is found in our Lakshmi Team Ebook. Available for download via the link in our bio
