Have you cooked with Fennel Bulb?
Fennel adds great flavour to your dishes and soups. Fennel is great for all three doshas and is particularly good for balancing excess Pitta in the body as it has a cooling effect on the body.

Fennel is known for its ability to improve our digestion. You will notice that the bulb has more of a mild licorice flavour in relation to the seeds. The sweet smell of fennel is known to promote a sense of sattva, mental clarity and awareness.

Technically fennel is a plant, but the bulbs can be used and cooked as most root vegetables. If you haven’t cooked with fennel bulbs, now is a great time to start as they are in season here in Australia!

Below is a simple and delicious recipe for you to try:

Cut up the fennel bulb and cauliflower and place on a baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil over the top and bake at 200 C. Once the veggies start to brown take them out of the oven and add them to a pot on the stove. Add a few bay leaves, organic vegetable stock, chop up a slice of fresh ginger, and add water to just barely cover the vegetables. Cover and cook on low simmer until the vegetables are completely soft. Use an immersion blender and blend until smooth. Add a pinch of salt, sprinkle with pepper and enjoy warm.

    Fennel Seed Home Remedy:

If you have fennel seeds in the pantry, dry roast them and chew on a few before and after a meal to aid digestion.

If you have any questions about fennel you are welcome to call/text 0406 810 547 for further information. We look forward to hearing from you!

Enjoy your fennel and cauliflower soup
