    TULSI.
Ayurvedic herbs are truly a gift for every individual. One of our favourite herbs is Tulsi or Holy Basil.

Tulsi is considered a very sacred plant, high in sattvic qualities. It imparts the quality of lightness and spiritual clarity. A wonderful herb to increase immunity and to lift the heaviness of a fever, cough and colds.

The energetic qualities are pungent, bitter, heating, dry and light. Tulsi clears kapha and mucous from the lungs and upper respiratory tract. It has Jvarahara properties (alleviates fever) by inducing sweating and therefore bringing the temperature down.

Other benefits of tulsi include improving one’s stamina, boosting immunity, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties and is also said to help treat depressive symptoms.

Tulsi is available as a tea, powder, capsule and often used in combination with other Ayurvedic herbs especially Turmeric, Ginger, Fennel, Pippali, Gotu kola and honey.

Do you own a tulsi plant? If so, try making Tulsi Swarasa at home.

    1. Take a few fresh and clean leaves of the tulsi plant.

    2. Grind them into a paste with a mortar and pestle.

    3. Squeeze the paste through a cheese cloth.

The liquid obtained is called Tulsi Swarasa.

It is very beneficial in cough, viral infection and fever. The dosage is 1-2 tsp.

Ayurvedic consultations are available Monday to Saturday at the clinic and online via Zoom. For more information you are welcome to send us a message.
