    Spring Panchakarma Treatment
As the seasons change, we are in the process of preparing for a busy few months of Panchakarma treatment here at the clinic!

If you have been following us for awhile you have most likely heard us speaking about Panchakarma. In Sanskrit, ‘Pancha’ means five and ‘karma’ means treatment. Ayurveda describes five main therapies used to purify the body.

What are the five (Pancha) therapies included in Panchakarma here at Lakshmi Ayurveda?

      1. Vamana: Therapeutic emesis.

      1. Virechana: Therapeutic purgation.

      1. Anuvasana Basti: medicated oil enema.

      1. Niruha Basti: Medicated herbal decoction enema.

      1. Nasya: Administration of Ayurvedic medicines through the nostrils.

Classically both the anuvasana and niruha basti would be under the one therapy of basti treatment. The fifth therapy is Raktamokshana, which is the detoxification of the blood ? This is traditionally done using leaches to draw out toxic blood. However, Raktamokshana is not practiced at the clinic.

What is the process to undergoing Panchakarma treatment?

Prior to Panchakarma the patient undergoes a thorough consultation to assess their condition. After changes are made to ones diet and lifestyle as suggested by the practitioner, a treatment program will be provided to suit the individuality of the client.

What are the benefits of Panchakarma?

There are many benefits to this treatment some of which include improving immunity, anti-ageing, weight reduction, purifying the skin, acne, dermatitis, fertility treatment, treating high cholesterol, IBS, Adrenal fatigue, mental fatigue, stress, depression, Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, neurological ailments as well and chronic and long-standing disease conditions.
