Yoni Picchu is a traditional Ayurvedic treatment for Gynaecological Ailments. Ayurveda has so much to offer for Women's Health.
The classical Ayurvedic text mentioned 20 types of Yoni vyapad (gynaecological disorders) and their treatment. We will post a write up about Yoni Vyapad aimed for students this week.. watch the space!
Some of the treatments that are traditionally used are
1. Yonivarthi - vaginal suppository
2. Yonikalka - vaginal paste application
3. Yonilepa - herbal paste application
4. Yoni pichu - cotton dipped in ghee/ oil
5. Yoniparisheka - vaginal doushing
6. Uttarabasti - vaginal/ uterine enema

What is it?
It is an Ayurvedic procedure where a sterile cotton covered with a sterile gauze piece (Picchu) is soaked in the herbs (often herbal ghee or oil) and inserted into the vagina.
Who could it be good for?

๐ฑ Vaginal Ph imbalance
๐ฑ Vata Pitta imbalance

๐ฑ prevention from infection
๐ฑprior labour to promote easy childbirth
๐ฑVaginal Ph imbalance
๐ฑApana vayu balance
๐ฑrecurrent miscarriages
How is it done?
After emptying the bladder and shower the cotton dipped in the medicated ghee or prescribed formulation is inserted into the vagina.
The cotton is left for 3 hours.
Important not to leave it for longer.
This procedure is repeated for at least 7 days.
Yoni Picchu should not be applied during ๐ฉธmenstruation.
