Vyadhikshamatva - Ayurvedic perspective on Immunity

In Ayurveda, *Vyadhikshamatva* refers to the concept of immunity or the body’s resistance to disease. This Sanskrit term combines "Vyadhi" (disease) and "Kshamatva" (resistance), so it essentially means the ability to withstand or resist illnesses.

Vyadhikshamatva - emphasizes not just fighting disease but also preventing it by strengthening the body's natural defenses. It is determined by the three following factors:

  1. Sahajabala—this can be understood by genetics and karma. It is also called constitutional strength, which exists in the mind and body from birth.
  2. Kalajabala - seasonal, age and environmental.
  3. Yuktikritabala - the acquired strength and good immunity which can achieved, by the combination of diet, lifestyle, exercise, body purification, rasayana and making the right choices to promote one’s health.

If you are feeling run down, have adrenal fatigue, or weakness and would like to improve your immunity we would love to guide you towards better health.

Key factors contributing to “Vyadhikshamatva” include:

  • Balanced diet: Consuming fresh, seasonal and unprocessed food.
  • Proper digestion: Good digestive health aids in nutrient absorption, which is crucial for immunity.
  • Daily routines (Dinacharya): Incorporating Ayurvedic practices like oil massage, yoga, exercise, and meditation.
  • Seasonal routines (Ritucharya): Adjusting lifestyle and diet according to seasonal changes to maintain balance.
  • Mental well-being: Stress reduction and emotional stability are also vital for a strong immune system.
