Virechana program - what it is and why to do it

What is Virechana?

Let’s talk about Virechana Karma. 

We have currently a few clients performing virechana through the Lakshmi clinic (the panchakarma clients are being treated for different ailments such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, infertility, parasites, weight gain, menopausal symptoms, migraines….. )

Virechana is the best treatment for aggravated Pitta Dosha. Pitta Dosha is related to the elements of fire and water and is most associated with the organs of the liver, gall bladder and small intestine.

Excess Pitta in the system can manifest in the organs mentioned above - often resulting in rashes, inflammation of the skin, acne and increased body heat.

What is the process of Virechana?

A herbal laxative is administered in the early morning to expel malas (waste products) and toxins in the downwards direction. After the virechana herbs are administered, a series of loose bowel movements will follow.
