Our yesterday’s workshop was so wonderful discussing the importance of seasonal Panchakarma and an end of summer cleanse protocol.
We have currently a few clients undergoing their yearly Panchakarma treatments. Svedana is one of the preparation treatments prior body purification such as Virechana (gastro intestinal cleansing).
Svedana one of Karin’s Sunday rituals.
Have you heard of Svedana Treatment before? Sveda is the Sanskrit word for sweat/ sudation. Ayurveda offers quite a few different types of svedana treatments..
Other types of svedana treatment that we offer here at Lakshmi Ayurveda include: Bashpa Sveda (one of our favourites, and most popular!), Ruksha Pinda Sveda and Jambeera Pinda Sveda.
As mentioned by Sushruta ~ sudation stimulates digestive power, provides softness and lustre in the skin, relish in food and purity of channels; removes sleep and drowsiness and restores movement in stiff joint.
Ayurveda considers Svedana, sweating therapy, to be an important part of cleansing procedures. However, excessive sweating can cause imbalance 🥵It is important to make sure you practice sweating therapy to the unique capacity of your body. Check with your Ayurvedic Practitioner to determine what is best for you 🙏🏼
Signs of proper sudation ✅
- Soft skin 🧖♀️
- Lightness in the body
- Increased movement in the body
- Improved digestion
- Increased energy
Signs of excessive sudation
- Lightheaded
- Excessive thirst
- Extreme fatigue 😣
Ayurveda offers guidelines on how to perform sweating therapy to ensure it is suitable for you 👇🏼
1. Do not include the head in a sweating chamber. Saunas are not suggested, as overheating the head is not recommended in Ayurveda
2. Do not overheat in the sun! ☀️
3. Refrain from excessive sweating 😓
We wish you a beautiful Sunday.
With Love, Karin and the Lakshmi Ayurveda team 💕
