How to Eat Fruit the Ayurvedic Way πππ«π
There are a number of Ayurvedic guidelines to follow regarding how you eat fruit.
βΌοΈ Do you eat fruits with meals? This is a big NO from an Ayurvedic perspective.
βοΈWhy? Fruit digests quicker than most foods. If fruit is consumed with other foods, the digestion time of the food varies and can cause digestive upset.

When to eat fruit?
Either before meals or in between meals once your previous meal has been digested. If before your meal, try to consume at least 30 minutes prior to your main meal.
β
How much fruit?
One piece of fruit is enough βπΌAnd do not mix fruits with different qualities. For example, the classical orange π and banana π combo is not recommended β
β
Which fruits?
This is a great question to ask your Ayurvedic practitioner. Depending on the season, your constitution and your state of imbalance, the practitioner will suggest fruits most suitable for you.
For example, if you are more of a Kapha constitution you may be advised to consume more apples π or cranberries while a Vata constitution will benefit from more cooked fruits. Pitta will do well with fruits more cooling in nature such as grapes π
