From our Lakshmi Garden to our treatment room ๐ฆโ๏ธ๐ธ
Freshly handpicked Ashwagandha leaves, gathered with care for a clientโs Ayurvedic treatment.๐
At Lakshmi, we value the wisdom of working closely with nature - appreciating not only the roots of a plant, but also the leaves and their traditional uses.
Many of our clients ask us how Ashwagandha can be used at home. While the root is the most widely used part of the plant in Ayurveda, the leaves also have a place in traditional external applications.
๐ฟ Ashwagandha leaves in Ayurvedic practice
Traditionally, the leaves may be used in external applications, including Lepana โ a herbal paste applied to a specific area. Depending on the Ayurvedic assessment, such preparations may be used to support the management of localised discomfort, joint concerns, glandular swelling and certain skin conditions.
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is valued in Ayurveda as a rejuvenating herb, traditionally associated with supporting the nervous system, strength and vitality, and nourishing the bodyโs tissues โ Rasa, Mamsa and Shukra Dhatus.
You are welcome to book in with one of our practitioners to discuss Ayurvedic herbs further. Bookings are available via our website or by calling us at 0406 810 547 or by email at info@lakshmiayurveda.com.au.
