Hello from Germany,🇩🇪
Lily, Elva and myself are having a beautiful time visiting my hometown in Germany. I grew up on a vineyard and farm where almost everything you can imagine is available from apples, pears, plums, raspberries, cranberries, strawberries, 🍓 blueberries, blackberries, grapes, hops, potatoes 🥔 (lots of it)…… my girls 🧒 👧love spending time with their cousins and get stuck into some farm work. 🧑🌾👩🌾
Today was all about Walnuts 🌰
Walnuts are called Akṣhota (अक्षोट) in Hindi and Juglans regia in latin.
The Ayurvedic properties are Madhura (sweet) in taste, Guru (heavy) and Snigdha (oily). The Vipaka (post digestive taste) is sweet and its action are Vata shamaka (reduces Vata).
- Walnuts are nutritious and have Balya (strength promoting) action.
- Walnuts are along Almonds considered to be the best nuts for Brmhana action (building tissue). Walnuts are rich in omega 3 fats and contain higher amounts of antioxidants than most other foods. Eating walnuts may improve brain and cardio vascular health.
- Walnuts are made of 65% fat and a small amounts of protein around 15%. They are very low in carbohydrates and most of which consists of fibre.
- Be cautious when storing nuts they are prone to become mouldy easily.
Ayurvedic medicines with Walnuts are Balamritam and Amritaprasha.
We wish you a beautiful weekend.
With Love Karin, Lily and Elva 💗💗💗
