Ayurvedic tips for spring / kapha season!
Spring has arrived ! 🌱🌼 🦋

Keep your eyes open for loquat and Mulberry trees 😋
We have them for you to enjoy after your treatment 🫶

According to Ayurveda, one should live life in accordance to the seasons. This is called Rtucharya ~ or seasonal routine. Spring is Kapha season, meaning the qualities of cold, moist and heavy are most predominant. So, to balance these out we need to increase the opposite qualities of hot, dry and light ☀️ . These opposite qualities help to cleanse the body, eliminate accumulated toxins (Ama), and remove dullness, heaviness and stagnation from the mind & body! Just like we “spring clean” our homes, we should do the same for our bodies! 🧼

Spring Tips 🐛🦋
• Exercise! This will encourage circulation, increasing the heat in the body and create a feeling of ‘lightness’ to balance the heavy qualities of Kapha
• Dry rub massage to invigorate the lymphatic system and decrease fluid retention. Or book in for Utsadana/ Udvarthanam at the clinic
• Add nasya to your morning routine to prevent hay fever
• Try kitchari or mung bean soup
• Avoid Ama producing food such as ice cream, yoghurt and curds
• Avoid caffeine and alcohol
• Spring is a great time for a seasonal cleanse, or Panchakarma

Foods to Favour 🥬🍎🫐
• Apples
• Blueberries
• Pomegranates
• Broccoli
• Cauliflower
• Kale
• Leafy greens
• Millet
• Barley
• Basmati Rice
• Lentils
• Sunflower seeds
• Most spices

Herbs for Spring 🌿
• Enjoy plenty of spice-filled teas with ginger, black pepper and cinnamon
• Take triphala before bedtime to improve digestion
• Sip on hot water with fresh ginger, cumin, fennel and black pepper
• Tulsi removes excess Kapha from the upper respiratory tract. Also assists in improving circulation and managing weight
