The Ayurvedic Way to Exercise correctly

🥾 Prepare for Your Trek with Ayurveda: Avoid Ativyayama 🙌🏼

Trekking builds strength and endurance, but long days on the trail can lead to Ativyayama—overexertion—which may aggravate Vata, causing fatigue, depleted energy and joint discomfort.

We have many clients undergoing treks one currently trekking the Via Francigena in 🇮🇹 Italy.
Karin recently completed the Cape to Cape trek and loved every step! 🥾✨

Before you go
🌿 Build strength gradually with training, yoga and joint mobility
🫶🏼 Practise regular Abhyanga (warm oil massage)
💆♀️ Kati and Janu basti, ayurveda’s unique lower back and knee treatments

On the trail
💨 Follow the half-capacity rule: move steadily and rest before exhaustion
💧 Sip warm or room-temperature water to support Agni (digestive fire)
🥜 Choose grounding foods such as dates, fruit and soaked nuts
☀️ Slow down and take extra breaks during peak Pitta hours. 12 - 2pm.

After each day
🦶🏼 Wash your feet in warm water
🌿 Practise nightly Padabhyanga (foot massage)
🚿 Enjoy a warm shower or bath to help settle Vata

Which treks have you thought of or completed 👇🏼
We are thinking of the Bibbulmun Track 🤔😆
