Are you a watermelon lover?

Watermelon must be one of Australia’s number one fruit eaten during the hot summer, on the beach, BBQ’s, pool parties and picnics.

Watermelon can be your best friend with health benefits or it can slow down your digestion and produce Ama.

According to Ayurveda watermelon has a cooling, and hydrating effect on the body.

It is beneficial in excessive thirst, fatigue, reduces burning sensation, oedema, bladder infections and it is also a diuretic.

Watermelon is over 90% water, a good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin A, B6 and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous, folate and calcium.

This makes it very beneficial if suffering from dehydration.

How to best eat watermelon

  1. Watermelon should NOT be served for a desert.
  2. Never been eaten in excess
  3. Do not mix it with any other fruit - “Eat them alone - or leave them alone”
  4. Always make sure it is ripe - unripe watermelon is heavy for digestion.
  5. Avoid if you are suffering from diabetes.
