Mustard Oil.
Rarely use mustard oil? Perhaps you should - Don’t miss out on the numerous benefits of this oil! Used in Ayurveda for cooking and massage, learn how you can use this oil at home.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, mustard oil is bitter, pungent and heating. Therefore it is best for treating conditions related to Vata and Kapha. Be advised that it can easily aggravate Pitta dosha.

Mustard oil is best used in the cooler seasons of the year - great for us at the moment in Perth!

Cooking.

    • When cooking, it is generally advised to use small amounts of mustard oil as it is highly heating in nature.

    • Due to the qualities mentioned above, mustard oil is great for sparking the Agni, the digestive function.

    • Has a scraping effect which can be beneficial in managing obesity and diabetes.


Massage.

    • Due to its heating qualities, it helps improve bodily circulation and increased warmth.

    • Often used in treating skin conditions.

    • Great for use in cold weather.

    • As a massage oil, most beneficial for Kapha dosha.

    • Known for providing deep condition to the hair.


Other Uses.

A few contraindications include blood disorders, excessive pitta and heat conditions.
