Preparing a footbath with roses for one of our treatments today Our feet provide us with roots to the earth a sense of stability and our connection to the physical. We often ignore the health of our feet, neglecting to provide them with the attention they need.
Various health conditions, emotions, physical and mental stress can be treated by addressing the health of our feet. The marma points of the feet are related to all areas and organs of the body. Stimulating these points can promote amazing results to our physical and mental health. Below are a few self-care foot-care recommendations to implement into your lifestyle routine.
Foot massage.
Called Padabhyanga, massaging the feet helps to promote deep sleep balances emotions and relaxes the nervous system. We suggest massaging your feet before bed. Black seed sesame oil will do. Brahmi oil is also great to use for foot massage and to promote further relaxation.
Padabhyanga with sesame oil or ghee helps to calm Vata dosha and strengthens Chakshu indriya, your sense of sight We have padabhyanga kits available in the shop, the link to view is below. The kits include Padabhyanga ghee and a Kansya bowl used to massage. Great to use for dry feet and cracked heels.
Foot bath.
Using Epsom salts, dried rose petals, lavender, or a little bit of Eucalyptus oil, soak your feet to relax after a busy day. A foot bath improves the texture of the skin and helps to alleviate tired and sore feet. Simply take 1.5 liters of boiled water and add 1/4 cup of Epsom salts. Let the water cool to a warm temperature and soak your feet for about 10 minutes.
Avoid excessive damp conditions in your socks and shoes This allows odour to develop and potential fungus to grow. And yes, it is important to wear comfortable shoes!
