    April 20, 2020 2 min read

At the moment it is all about “washing your hands” but in fact Ayurveda always highlights the importance of good hygiene not just because of the current pandemic.

According to Ayurveda it is a common practice to first wash your hands when getting up.
Afterwards the hands are cupped, filled with water to wash the face.

“Washing the hands ensures that the senses do not receive the dust and dirt of the hands travels across life, sleep and the adventures of a curious child.”

Food is to be ingested only after bathing and washing the hands, legs and face.

Applying the knowledge of Ayurveda can truly prevent many disease and the spreading of disease.

At the moment with the constant hand washing and use of sanitiser it could become quiet uncomfortable for anyone suffering from dermatitis, exzema or dry hands.

We recommend to regular moisturise your hands, nails and cuticles with black seed sesame oil.

In Ayurveda the hands and nails are assessed in a consultation. In many cases the nails reflect or indicate an imbalance.
Nails are considered a waste product of Asthi Dhatu (bone) and there is a direct link. For example in osteoporosis nails can be brittle and weak.
Nails are observed for white spots, brown lines, ridges, moons and more.

Tips for healthy hand and Nails:

A herbal paste (lepa) is recommended to apply regular on our hands.

Apply the paste on your hands, keep the paste until it dries off (about 5 -10 minutes)

    Wash it off with water.

Regular hand massage is also important and will stimulate Marma points such as Talahridaya and Kshipra Marma.
