    8 Branches of Ayurveda
    We are spending a few days prior to the international Ayurvedic conference at the Major S.D. Singh Medical College & Hospital.

    It is a private Ayurvedic medical college and hospital located near Fatehgarh in Farrukhabad district, Uttar Pradesh, India. The college was established in 2011. 

    The hospital is well equipped with an inpatient facilities for over 200 people. 

    All the 8 branches of Ayurveda are practised and it has its own herbal garden on the campus. We will be going there shortly

    1. Kaya Chikitsa (Internal Medicine):

    This branch focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and health conditions using herbal remedies, diet, lifestyle modifications, and detoxification techniques such as Panchakarma. 

    2. Bala Chikitsa (Pediatrics):

    Bala Chikitsa deals with the health and well-being of children, including their physical and mental development, and offers remedies for childhood illnesses. 

    3. Graha Chikitsa (Psychiatry):

    Graha Chikitsa addresses mental health and psychological disorders. 

    4. Urdhvanga Chikitsa (ENT and Ophthalmology):

    This branch specializes in the treatment of disorders related to the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.

    5. Shalya Chikitsa (Surgery):

    Shalya Chikitsa includes surgical procedures, such as the removal of tumors, cysts, and other physical ailments. In Ayurveda, surgical techniques were practiced even in ancient times and has been explained in detail in the sushruta Samhita 


    6. Damstra Chikitsa (Toxicology):

    This branch deals with the treatment of poison-related injuries and illnesses.

    7. Jara Chikitsa (Geriatrics) or Rasayana:

    Jara Chikitsa focuses on promoting healthy aging, managing age-related diseases, and enhancing the quality of life in the elderly.

    8. Vajikarana (Reproductive Medicine):

    Vajikarana deals with issues related to sexual health, infertility, and aphrodisiac therapies.

    These eight branches collectively form the comprehensive system of Ayurveda. 

    It really shows the completeness of Ayurveda as a holistic system of medicine.
