Spiced Warm Apple Juice.

Looking for a warm morning drink to enjoy on a winters morning? Below is the recipe to our spiced apple ? juice.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, apples ? are cooling, sweet and astringent. Depending on the variety of apple the qualities may slightly change - for example Granny Smith ? may include more of the sour taste and be particularly astringent.

Due to the cool and drying qualities of apple they can be aggravating for Vata dosha when eaten raw or in the wrong season and without proper spices. Stewed apples eaten warm or warm apple juice, especially in winter ?are highly beneficial for nourishing the rasa dhatu (plasma) and improves hydration within the body.

Warm Apple ? Juice Ingredients:

- equal parts apple juice and water. 1 cup of each.

- 1/8 tsp ginger powder.

- 1/2tsp ground cinnamon. Optional is to add a stock of cinnamon.

- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg.

Place all ingredients in a pot on the stove and bring to a simmer for 5-10 minutes. Enjoy in the morning to help boost the digestive fire ? See the qualities of the spices added below.


Cinnamon: Known in Ayurveda as Twak.

- Deepana ? (enkindles digestion).

- Amamashaka (destroys toxins).

- Hridayam (cardiac ♥️ tonic).

- Vatahara (reduces aggravated Vata).

- Balya (imparts strength).

- Vatakaphanashak (alleviates vata and kapha).

- Shukrala (increases semen).



Ginger: known as Sunthi.

- Deepana (enkindles ? digestion).

- Pachana (digestive).

- Rasayana (rejuvenate).

- Amanashaka (destroys toxins).

- Chardi nigrahana (anti-emetic).

- Grahi (absorbs fluids ? from the intestines).

- Arshoghna (removes piles).

- Sitaprashamana (reduces feelings of cold).

- Kasashwasahara (reduces shortness of breath and cough).

- Vedana sthapana (analgesic).


Nutmeg: Known as Jatiphala in Sanskrit. Known for improving circulation, indigestion, gas and abdominal cramps, insomnia and more.
