Last week we spoke about the transformational Pitta dosha. This week we will go into more detail about the sweet Kapha dosha.
Kapha is made up of the element of water and earth, Jala and Prithvi.
A few of the qualities of Kapha include an unctuous nature, cold, heavy, slow, slimy, stable and sweet.
How can you see the Kapha dosha around you? Perhaps the grandeur of the mountains ⛰ the stability of the trees, the flowing of the river. The earth, the water.
Can you see Kapha dosha in your physical body? Kapha promotes stability and bulk, strength. Individuals predominately Kapha in nature have soft and delicate skin, a pleasant appearance and attractive face. A Kapha person has a good immunity and does not fall sick easily.
An individual with a Kapha prakriti (constitution) tends to tolerate the heat well but does not sweat easily. They may have a very melodious voice. They may have a low appetite and thirst - however, Kaphas usually love food. A Pitta constitution may be constantly hungry and thirsty where a Kapha may not be hungry but wants to eat. This may lead to weight gain if out of moderation.
How does Kapha manifest in the mind? In balance, Kapha embodies qualities of compassion, patience, caring and kindness. These people often take time in making a decision. Its easy to love Kapha. Out of balance, the mind may be lazy and stagnant.
Spring is the Kapha season. If you experience excess weight gain, feelings of lethargy and heaviness, a seasonal cleanse may be suitable for you. The first step is to set up an initial consultation with one of our practitioners to discuss a detox program for you.
It is important to remember to love and accept our natural constitution - your body weight, shape and function is all dependent on your unique blend of the elements. Oh the beauty of Ayurveda ♥️
