    Benefits of Hing, Asafoetida

Hing is often recognised for its pungent smell and flavour - if you have smelled Hing, chances are you will not forget it!

The strong flavour of Hing makes it a great garlic or onion substitute.

Hing always needs to be sautéed and should not be used raw (best to sauté in Ghee). It will not only give your food a wonderful flavour, but it will also help digestion and prevents bloating and wind especially when you are eating legumes.

A must-have ingredient for your kitchari and mung soup.

Remember, only a pinch or two is necessary.

The word Hingu is a Sanskrit synonym meaning ‘effective in thousand ways.’ Showing that there are so many benefits to using Hing.

The English word for Hing is Asafoetida.

The Ayurvedic properties classify Hing as heating, light and sharp making it helpful in reducing Vata and Kapha while increasing Pitta dosha, as written in today’s quote.

    Other benefits of Hing:

    - Great for treating IBS

    - Constipation treatment

    - Loss of appetite

    - Burns AMA (digestive toxins)

    - Reduces excess gas

    - Helps treat Candida

    - Antiviral and antiparasite

    - And many more!

Hing is available here at Lakshmi Ayurveda. You are welcome to visit the shop from Monday to Saturday from 9am-430pm. Online ordering is also available via the link in our bio.

    Enjoy your hing
