    Vastu Shastra
You may be familiar with the term Feng Shui, but have you heard of Vastu Shastra? Similar in ways to Feng Shui, Vastu Shastra is a system used to design and arrange a space or building. This ancient science of architecture is Vedic in origin, used to design a space to encourage the highest levels of physical and mental health ✨ We are impacted by the space around us and clutter, messy and dirty spaces can impact our physical and mental health.

When visiting India, note that most buildings, hospitals, temples and homes follow some guidelines of Vastushastra. Like Ayurvedic principles, those of Vastushastra are individualised to suit the characteristics, qualities and situations of the person, family and people inhabiting the building.

A few basic Vasushastra tips for anyone curious:
    - While sleeping, refrain from placing your head towards the north. Instead, keep your head facing south or east.
    - The main entrance should face in the north, east or northeast direction.
    - The middle area of the house should be kept clear of objects.
    - Favour bright, white or warm colours for your home, as they encourage positive energy.

Principles of Ayurveda, Vasushastra, Jyotish, Yoga, Meditation and other ancient Vedic practices are all rich in their depth. Applying principles of all work together to form a holistic approach to health.
It is great to keep a photo or statue of Lord Ganesha, the God of joy, happiness and success in your home. He is thought to be the remover of obstacles. The best placement is the northeast corner of the house. This corner is also known as the Ishan corner. Also, set the statue facing into the room and not towards a window.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, keeping our space clean and light can help promote more sattvic thoughts and expressions in our life. This encourages increased mental clarity and a positive home environment.
