Over the next month we will be posting more information, testimonials, in-house client cases of seasonal cleansing routines as we move into the season of Spring. We have many clients booked in for their Panchakarma treatments at Lakshmi Ayurveda for this change of season. We are looking forward to providing them with our upmost care for their treatment!
Spring is the season of the Kapha dosha. As you may have learned, Kapha dosha is made up of the elements of Jala (water) and Pritvi (earth). The qualities of both water and earth can produce strength and stability. However, out of balance Kapha dosha may present symptoms of fatigue, heaviness, a lack of enthusiasm, constipation, a thick coating on the tongue, headaches, poor concentration, joint and muscle pain or skin problems. This would indicate that there are digestive toxins, called AMA, in the body.
Seasonal cleansing measures are put in place to eliminate AMA from the body and mind. So how does Ayurveda promote seasonal cleansing?
Ayurveda does not encourage a quick, one size fits all approach to seasonal cleansing. There is a plethora of information on the internet regarding cleansing procedures. Performing these cleansing practices may not be suitable for you and actually cause more harm than good.
However, a few daily routine and diet changes are suitable to add into your lifestyle for the Spring season. As it is Kapha season, we often are focusing on weight management.
– Dry body brushing
– Ayurvedic herbs – trikatu, black pepper, ginger, cumin, tulsi, triphala
– Ayurvedic diet. Ktichari and mung soup. Mono diet.
– Exercise and lymphatic drainage.
Your Ayurvedic practitioner will guide you through your Panchakarma program.
