    Ksheerabala Oil Benefits

Preparing the classical Ayurvedic oil Ksheerabala Thailam. You may also see it spelled as ‘Kshirabala’. Karin has prepared the Bala kashayam, the Bala kalka, the milk and sesame oil and is ready to start the cooking process.

‘Ksheera’ is the Sanskrit word for milk ? and ‘Bala’ is the Ayurvedic herb ? used in this formulation. ‘Thailam’ is Sanskrit for oil. So what is the herb Bala used for?

Bala means ‘strength’ ?? in Sanskrit. It is known for its rejuvenation and strengthening qualities. The milk adds cooling properties to the oil, making it great for treating conditions of excess heat ? and inflammation. As this oil is found in the Vatarakta section of the Ashtanga Hridayam (as mentioned in our quote yesterday) and is fantastic for treating gout and rheumatic conditions.

It is also great for the skin! Beneficial for the nervous system, treating Arthritis, cervical spondylitis, is sweet in rasa (taste), acts as an aphrodisiac and more.
