Grahani Roga Nidanam

Most of our clients approach our practitioners with a number of digestive 🚽 symptoms and disorders. The wisdom of Ayurveda provides us with guidelines to treating these disorders from an individualised approach – each client undergoing a different treatment program depending on their unique set of causative factors.
The Madhava Nidanam 📖 clearly outlines conditions associated with the deodenum, such as sprue mentioned in the classical texts. Grahani can also be correlated to IBS – it is amazing the ancient text described this disorder so clearly.

Disorders will often have symptoms related to either vata, pitta or kapha doshas or a combination of each.

Vataja Grahaniroga: resulting from increased Vata 🌬 Due to a variety of causes which may include fermentation of foods causing digestive distress, suppression of natural urges, contaminated foods, too much pungent, bitter, astringent and dry foods. Symptoms usually present with an absence of hunger, noise in the ears 👂🏼 pain in the flanks or thighs and neck, vomiting, depression.

Pittaja Grahaniroga: resulting from increased pitta 🔥 May result from too many raw foods with the pungent and sour taste. The patient may eliminate foods that are not properly digested, may be deep yellow 🟡 in colour, and have burning sensations in the chest or throat.

Kaphaja Grahaniroga: resulting from increased Kapha 💧🌍 Generally resulting from increased use of fatty, difficult to digest, cold 🥶 foods. Also sleeping after meals resulting in improper digestive function. Patients may experience excess coating in the mouth and tongue, sweet taste in the mouth, heaviness in the abdomen, mucus and heaviness in elimination of faeces.

If you struggle with digestive disorders the first step would be to speak with one of our practitioners to design a treatment program for you. This would include tailored dietary, lifestyle and body treatment suggestions and guidance. Booking is available through our website or by calling 0406 810 547.
