    Barley Soup Recipe
    Get some free fresh organic parsley and rosemary with your Ayurvedic treatment.

    Try this delicious Barley Soup

    Ingredients:
    Step one
    2 tbs of ghee
    1/4 cup minced fresh parsley
    1/4 tsp fresh rosemary (we have this for you out of Lakshmi’s garden)
    1/2 tsp dried basil
    Pinch of hing
    1/2 medium pepper chopped (avoid nightshade vegetables if you are suffering from inflammation)
    1 stalk celery with leaves, sliced
    1 carrot grated



    Step two
    5 cups vegetable stock
    1/4 cup barley
    1 turnip, cut into small pieces
    1 bay leaf
    Salt
    black pepper

    Instructions:
    1. Melt the ghee in a soup pot. Add parsley, rosemary, basil, hing, pepper, celery, and carrot and sauté over low heat for 10 minutes
    2. Add the stock to the vegetables. Add barley, turnip and bay leaf. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce the heat, and simmer until the barley is very tender. Start cooking before you get hungry as this can take 1.5 to 2 hours.
    3. Season with salt and pepper
